Let’s start off with a credit-where-credit-is-due. On a random Google search, I found RoadSnacks, a website specializing in consumer friendly state and city information.

Apparently, RoadSnacks likes to create practical lists utilizing “recent data from the Census, FBI, OpenStreetMaps, and dozens of other sources into bite-sized studies to help you understand what it’s like to live in different communities across the country,” according to their website.

One of their lists caught my eye: “These Are The 10 Most Conservative Cities In Maryland For 2019.”

Since I do not have consent to reprint the article in its entirety, I will summarize it for you and give you a direct link to the piece. It’s worth your time.

The stated premise of These Are The 10 Most Conservative Cities In Maryland For 2019 is to identify the cities in Maryland with high concentrations of conservatives…right up my alley!

Utilizing campaign contributions in Maryland cities with a population of more than 5,000 people, RoadSnacks asserts that “The cities with the highest percentage of voters who voted republican and gave the most to conservatives were named the most conservative cities in the state.”

Here’s the list of Maryland’s ten most conservative cities for 2019 by RoadSnacks:

  1. Cumberland, MD
  2. Frostburg, MD
  3. Elkton, MD
  4. Mount Airy, MD
  5. Hampstead, MD
  6. Westminster, MD
  7. Taneytown, MD
  8. Hagerstown, MD
  9. Ocean City, MD
  10. Bel Air, MD

How did RoadSnacks create this list? According to their website, they made a list of every city in Maryland with a population greater than 5,000 people. This created a shortlist of 40 communities.

To isolate conservatives from liberals, Republicans from Democrats, RoadSnacks, narrowed the data by determining the following:

  • The Percentage Of Registered Republicans;
  • The number of Contributions made to Republican candidates on a per capita basis;
  • The actual dollar amount of contributions to Republicans on a per capita basis;
  • Finally, they ranked the cities 1-40 and isolated the top ten.

If RoadSnacks’ data is correct, the most conservative Maryland city for 2019 is Cumberland.

So, if you are a conservative who is thinking of moving to Maryland I have good news, you can pick a City from this list and be relatively assured you’ll be in the company of like-minded citizens!
